The middle of the city center, Sol where you can find many things to do. This is the most 'active' part of the city. With Plaza Mayor, Mercado San Miguel and Palacio Real around the corner this is the most popular area of the city for tourists to discover the city.

'Salamanca' is the poshest area of the city, here you will find the most expensive cars driving around, the exclusive shops on Calle Serrano like Prada, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hugo Boss and many more.

The architecture in this area is quite impressive, they have used a lot of space setting up this area of the city. On the map, you will see this is the most organized & structured, as the whole neighborhood is set up in blocks like many cities in the USA.
Right around the corner of this area, you will find the famous park Retiro, where people meet up to do sports activities and chill out. Especially during the weekends, this place is extremely popular to spend a lovely day outside to relax.
CHUECA
Chueca is the most 'trendy' area of the city I would say. You can find many wine bars, fancy restaurants, and well-designed bars around in this area. Every year this is the center of the Gay Parade happening which attracts people from all over the world.
La Latina... the place to be on a Sunday afternoon! People gather here to meet up with friends, have a drink mostly on the streets to end the weekend as it is supposed to be done..
This is the area with cozy places, an old beautiful building which creates somewhat of a Bohemian type of ambiance.
The citizens from Madrid love this place for the Botellon, which means bringing your own drinks and cups to consume it with friends on the streets, sometimes literally sitting on the ground with some snacks and drinks.
